surprised nobody took a flier on maze as a return specialist...

i like the signing, i just don't know how he beats the numbers game... added clemons to an already strong group at wr, added rainey to handle returns... maybe he could squeeze onto the roster as the 6th wr?

His injured hamstring hurt his stock... :(

so did his 40 time and his production numbers

you don't get into the NFL by beating up on Kent St and Vanderbilt

Beat UDFA by team from NFP

Quote:
Pittsburgh Steelers: Robert Golden, S, Arizona
Might be limited to more of a cover two/click and close type corner, but he does have some developing press coverage skills. Also, has a lot of value as a safety, as he can anticipate in the deep half, drive on throws under him and play over a receiver in nickel situations.

Golden is a new wave S/CB ...Hustle, Toughness, tackling, Man cover skills, and he is a core special teams player

Alfred McCullough – G – 6’2/312

Low, squatty, powerful guard that gets overlooked. Short arms hurt him, but McCullough is a reliable player that played very well this season. Not the most mobile guy in space, but he gets to the second level quickly. Late rounder that could make a nice backup because of his NFL ready strength and technique inside.

I don't think the Brandon Lindsey signing is getting enough play here. This is a kid who had 19 sacks over the past two years and was thought to be a 2nd rounder coming into the season. Pitt was a mess all around this year, which could explain his slide in play.

On a related note, the Ravens got a nice haul of free agents:

Ravens (21) (from Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times)

Morgan State TE-H-back Lamont Bryant
Mississippi State OT James Carmon
Baylor DT Nicolas Jean-Baptiste
Kent State DT Ishmaa'ily Kitchen
Western Kentucky RB Bobby Rainey

I bet one of those 2 NT's make their roster as well as Carmon and Rainey.

Bench Reps: 20
Vertical Jump: 25 1/2
Broad Jump: 08'04"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.90
3-Cone Drill: 7.75

Impression: Possesses a thin frame, lacks power when asked to anchor/stick to blocks and isn't fluid enough to mirror consistently with NFL caliber defensive ends.

so we grabbed a guy who is small, slow, and weak. Just like his brother.

thankfully our OL isn't in as bad a shape as it was back then. Why grab a guy like this? Why not grab an upside guy like Sammy Brown as a pass rusher?
we also recently drafted another bum with similar small, slow, and weak measurables:
6'4.5"
304#
40 time: 5.25
Vertical: 27"
Reps: 25
20m shuttle: 4.92
3-cone: 7.74

you'd think after what happened with pouncey, they would have learned. marcus gilbert ran a 5.5 and wouldn't even do any of the other drills (he eventually put a 5.02 short shuttle at his pro day).

my point obviously isn't "yay! shitty measurables!", it's just that I, as a guy who for the most part is all about measurables, don't think they have almost any value for o-line players. if the guy weighs > 280# and has arms > 31.5" for iol or >33" for ot, watch some tape. then complain, because this guy sucks out loud on tape.

great athlete - Aliquippa HS
His down year at Pitt crushed his draft status --
definitely a candidate for Practice Squad
