So it's late, I'm watching last round of draft via dvr after going to a mind numbing kids b-day party and my wife gets a call from a friend saying to ask Drama if he knows who Drew Butler is. My wife of course smart ass reply "Ohhhh I'm sure he does..." So I say yeah kid's a punter from UGA hasn't been drafted yet probably won't. Turns out my wifes friend is friends with the Butlers and teaches at Peachtree Ridge... Drew's high school. So then she later texts my wife to tell Drama he signed with his Steelers.
...Told you it would only interest me...but I say the kid makes the team...helluva punter and by all accounts a great kid. Mine cant understand why I sleep on the lounge and calculate the time to wake up for the picks on day 3 Round 4: 2.45 am - woke up and missed the trade up for Ta'amu ( went back to sleep happy) Round 5 5.00am - woke up and go the Rainey pick ( realised the 6th had been traded so went back to sleep) Round 7 7.30 am - woke up and had to wait for the next 4 picks. Fell asleep on the lounge at 1.30pm Woke up at 3.00pm Went out to golf at 3.15pm Got home at 5.30pm and opened beer Its 6.30pm now and time to bath the kids. As you know Drama - it hell hour. Better get another beer Great story of yours by the way You went golfing at 3:15 and got back at 5:30? Whatcha play...4 holes?

With the depth of our draft this could be the year that changes. I like Clemons for the practice squad for sure though. But we cut a LOT of vets this year, so a lot of roster spots have opened up -- a very unusual year for us, so I think we will see MANY of the young guys make the squad this year. I LOVE this crop of UDFA's and wouldn't be shocked if we kept more than 1. Vet losses: Willie Gay Hines Ward Chris Hoke AA Smith J Farrior M Starks B McFadden A Battle other possible cuts: J Scott DJ Johnson M Moore I'm sure there are others I'm leaving out .... I can't think of any recent season where we were losing so many players coming into the new season -- I'm not talking about players beating out other players for a job -- I'm saying, these are cuts that have already been made going into next season, BEFORE any competition even begins. There is HUGE ROSTER TURNOVER this year, and that gives this crop of draft picks and UFDAs an unusually good opportunity to make the team.

I'm still coming out of the "we were just in the super bowl lets keep 51 out of 53 guys the same" mentality that the front office gets sometimes. Lol

Impression: Possesses a thin frame, lacks power when asked to anchor/stick to blocks and isn't fluid enough to mirror consistently with NFL caliber defensive ends. so we grabbed a guy who is small, slow, and weak. Just like his brother. thankfully our OL isn't in as bad a shape as it was back then. Why grab a guy like this? Why not grab an upside guy like Sammy Brown as a pass rusher?

Where do you get weak from? 20 reps isn't great, but once you get to 20 it just becomes an endurance/lactic acid question and doesn't tell you much about functional football strength. Better question is what's his squat, clean, and deadlift max (or estimated max from 5RM or less). His numbers aren't all that far off from Amini Silatolu, Washington, and Kelemete. You could do a lot worse than picking up another Darnell Stapleton as an UDFA. I'd prefer he doesn't start, but you quite obviously CAN win a Super Bowl w/ Darnell Stapleton starting. And why grab a guy like that? We need OL bodies for camp. Limited camp slots and you NEED a certain number at each position to be able to run all the reps you'd like.

Of course, I admit wholeheartedly to being biased against Stapleton due to his brother.
