Can I ask why the hell the Steelers waste time with non-QB athletes rather than bring an actual QB into camp?

i have an idea that it involves the lack of reps the 3rd or 4th guy is going to get. if you're going to be forced to use a guy who hasn't gotten reps, at least an athlete can come in in a stopgap role and make a play or two. A non-athlete QB trainee won't know WTF he's doing AND won't have had any reps AND won't have physical tools he can use when all else fails.

Just a theory.

These gimmick running QBs need to stop. What a fckin waste. They should be developing a pocket passer who can read defenses and be somewhat accurate. Not asking for much..just some youth with potential.

I agree on the reps but you will need to find some...I 100% disagree that "A non-athlete QB trainee won't know WTF he's doing" (example TJ Yates)
IMO he did well because of his mental makeup not his athletic ability and he was the #3 on that roster so either they were finding reps for him or just doing a great job outside of reps. I also think that the coaching staff and front office are 100% into him and his ability so they have a true belief and trust in him from the get go...

Remember when he was a Steeler for about half a day?

Bills trying out 2010 Combine freak Dorin Dickerson

Posted by Evan Silva on May 5, 2012, 2:10 PM EDT

Former Pitt tight end/receiver Dorin Dickerson generated pre-draft buzz when he ripped up the 2010 NFL Combine, running a 4.4-flat forty-yard dash with a 42-inch vertical at 226 pounds. But Dickerson has made no on-field contributions since, bouncing between practice squads and having yet to record a reception.

The Buffalo Bills are going to kick his tires.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Dickerson is scheduled to try out for the Bills. It sounds like he’s been invited to Buffalo’s rookie minicamp next week on a workout-only basis.

G.M. Buddy Nix’s Bills have been willing to take fliers on “test freak” types in the past. Former Arizona basketball player Fendi Onobun is currently on Buffalo’s roster at tight end, and the Bills used a seventh-round pick last year on Bethel defensive tackle Michael Jasper after he ran a forty time in the 5.5s at nearly 400 pounds.

Jasper has since been converted to offensive guard and is now listed at 375.

what's Dickerson's deal? He wasn't a bad deal and was a physical freak. you'd think he'd be able to stick somewhere
