First glance - HATED this pick.

BUT - Perhaps there is a Pouncey / Gilbert connection :?:

Rainey actually lived with the Pouncey family for a while

interesting.

I have no idea how, (or if) that played into the pick, but I'm actually amazed you actually knew that.

This pick has Haley's fingerprints all over it. I can't wait to see how he utilizes Rainey's abilities.

beat me to it -- i agree
maybe it was a contract stipulation that he can have the 5th round pick ?

Actually, didn't predict it... But it's pretty expected... They needed that type of guy and a returner, plus the connection with Pouncey. I remember someone here on the site talking about the connection and me thinking... He's a fit.

Like the pick a lot.

I really like this pick. We have a lot of battering rams at RB. It's great to have this kind of speed and explosiveness. The NFL is now all about mismatches on 3rd down. Imagine the mismatches Haley can create with Rainey 1 v 1 with a LBer. Wow.

He is also the brother of Rod Smart (he hate me) from the XFL Las Vegas Outlaws and 1st cousin of former
Philadelphia Eagles receiver Freddie Mitchell.

I love this pick, perfect compliment to Redman and real weapon in many other ways.
