Ricketts Glen in the Scranton area is awesome. I used to hit it up when I was in PA all the time. 36 waterfalls along a maybe 5 or 7 miles of trails. They have camp sites and cabins you can rent. or just day trip it.

Sorry, Rhino --- not too knowledgeable re: east coast camping, but I can give you plenty of tips if you ever decide to head for California.
Just got back from a weekend camping trip with my kids --- even caught their first fish! Perfect time of year at about 5000' elevation ... daytime sunny and 70 degrees; 40s at night ... hardly any bugs ... small crowds ... and lots o' fish! Even 2nd degree-burning my hand (from spattering bacon grease while I was cooking breakfast) couldn't detract from a fantastic weekend!

Great Falls just outside of DC is nice, Cunningham Falls and Catoctin (sp) are near Camp David just across the MD/PA border near Thurmont. Grand Canyon Of Pennsylvania is pretty kick ass as well.
