Buckner did Bettis didn't. BIG difference. I laugh when i think about the play...it's a big sigh of relief type of feeling in that the Steelers RECOVERED the fumble. A NEAR disasterous play is not something I cling to in attempt to form an argument that Willie Parker is a better back than Jerome Bettis. Stunad.

Are your synapses firing in the proper order? What fumble recovery?

You Bettis haters act as if Bettis actually LOST the fumble against Indy. Am I the only one who actually watched that game? It wasn't like Bettis just laid the football on the ground...it was a good hit that most running backs would be lucky not to fumble.

From this post, I honestly don't think you watched the game. You don't demonstrate anything to the contrary. Bettis left the ball out there where any slapdick could have knocked it out. Most RBs, trying to power into the endzone, don't turn sideways and have the ball hanging out like a piece of low hanging fruit. Most RBs, trying to power into the endzone, protect the football. Bettis didn't. You make patronizing comments about people who haven't played the game not understanding, and then display less knowledge about rushing then a Pop Warner RB and less familiarity about the play then a blind man.

He made a critical mistake. Fortunately an idiot kicker missed and we won.

Still Mad At Slobber? Why are you still mad? If you are among those who blame Cowher and/or Bettis for losing championships then no I don't think you played a team sport such as football. Other players besides Bettis could've stepped up and CONTRIBUTED to winning those games. Sometimes you lose. It's part of sports. I think we as Steeler fans simply don't tolerate losing which is fine, but when a single player has posters on a message board attempting to discredit his career over an ALMOST scenerio and place sole blame on him for losing a game when football is clearly a team sport then I will take issue with what I think is nothing more than hate and blaming over losses that occurred over a decade ago.

Bottom line: Bettis fumbled, Ben made the tackle, kicker missed, Steelers went on to win their 5th Super Bowl. What's the problem with that? Wasn't perfect enough for all of you?

Dude......puhleez. I know you like Bettis. I know the truth hurts you, but sometimes.....you gotta man up.

Bettis didn't "almost" do anything. He fucked up. It was legendary in it's stupidity. Fat Jerome did his best to give the season away in one play.

He was always real good at that though! If there was a Hall of Fame for POSTSEASON DUMBFUCKS, they would waive the 5 year rule and would have inducted Bettis minutes after Super Bowl 40 ended.

1) My screen name does not represent my mental state, obviously you have proven that yours does.
2) I don't blame Bettis for losing championships
3) I don't care what you think I played. You can't prove it by any means to anyone except yourself, and that is obviously the only thing
that matters in your world.
4) The issue is your attempt to dismiss a multiplicity of blunders on the play. You throw out that any other RB would have similarly failed with complete disdain for the fact that any other RB would have understood in that situation he didn't need to score, only needed to hang on to the ball and would have done so.
5) It gets even funnier when you utilize your all encompassing football experienced to lecture the rest of us on our shortcomings, while in the process don't demonstrate any football knowledge of said play.
6) Then you play the hate card, because you can't possible conceive that someone could disagree with you for any other reason. Since we obviously dwarf in comparison to your vast football expertise, it must be hate.

so if i shot my dick off but a doctor was able to fix me up good as new with no permanent damage it would mean i ALMOST shot myself in the cock?

bettis didn't ALMOST fumble against the colts. he DID fumble. the fact that brackett put his helmet on the exposed ball, ben saved a touchdown on harper's return and vanderjagt shanked a reasonably makeable fg try to bail bettis out doesn't make it an ALMOST fumble.
