I agree - sort of a lame name and awkward to use in a sentence (like my OP). Up On Cripple Creek is fairly well known. And The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is a lesser known gem sung by Helm.
Marc Cohn has a song called Listening to Levon, about making out with a chick in the car until a Levon song comes on the radio when he completely loses interest in the girl.
