Torn between buying a Shelby and the new 750 HP Camaro when it comes out.
What say you?

I'm a long time Mustang lover - drove 2 different '87s and a '93 GT convertible between 1990 and 2000 (when a long commute, snow, and starting a family came to be). Never liked the Camaro bodies, especially mid-90s (the really pointy ones). But they usually destroyed Mustangs when it came to HP in those days. I haven't kept tabs on the specs in recent years, but I still prefer the look of the Mustang over the Camaro.
Probably doesn't help you with your decision, but figured I'd chime in with a vote based on appearance.

My father-in-law owns a Shelby GT-H. It's pretty badass and I've always kinda been a Chevy guy.

Appreciate your input, defenseman. I love me some Shelby but there's something about the black and yellow Camaro that grabs me. Admittedly, I've never been that much of a fan of muscle cars since I live in the Burgh and winter driving is miserable. The wife has a QX 56 so we're set with SUV's for the winter months.

I'm a Corvette guy, myself. I'm currently driving a C5 and loving it...although I'm definitely due for an upgrade.
I don't like the Shelby's at all. They refuse to get rid of that live rear axle, which baffles me. I don't know much about the SLP Camaros, but I don't trust all that power on a platform that wasn't built for it. I know they do all the handling and stability upgrades, but still, I don't like it. Horsepower is a waste if the car can't handle it.
If I were looking at a car in that price range, I'd see if I could find a used ZR1. Not quite the same horsepower, but it'll be lighter and will drive much more comfortably then either a Mustang or Camaro will at that level.

I thought there would be discussion of the muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. lol
I like anything with horse power. One offs, factory, resto mods and full factory restorations. I've always been partial to Mustang myself. [Love the 67 and 68 GT 500]
If you were looking for suggestions may I suggest the Cadillac CTS V series. That is the next muscle/luxury car I'm interested in. I believe they're all wheel drive with something like 545 HP and handle like they're on rails. You can go with the sedan model and seat 4 comfortably or they have [my favorite] the coupe. I have just one child left at home still so the coupe is looking much more attractive to me.
Anyway good luck with your final choice six.

One of my favorite topics lately is how I would build a successful car company, in contrast to mothball GM. Taking a cue from the successful Marvel franchise movies, my idea is to pick the most loved cars of the past, buy the original body molds, and built a modern car within that shell with all the modern amenities that people expect. For example, the 69 Camaro or Charger or the 63 split window Stingray. Hell you could even do it with the 32 Ford Coupe not to mention the 48 Buick or 57 Caddy. Buy the molds, use modern alloys, put some good German engineering to work and make that into a mass produced consumer product people would love. You'd have to build it in the South in a right to work state to compete on costs.
Just like the iphone 4, I think when someone designs a piece of metal and glass that people fall in love with, that's a rare and special thing.
Imagine being 30 years old and single, showing up to work one day in a little deuce coupe banging tunes off the built in Iphone player on a Bose system. That you bought for 30-35K and you won't have in the garage every month.
(83 was a tough year. The Steelers passed on Dan Marino, and GM inexplicably destroyed the sex appeal of the Vette.)

I've seen them and like the body style of the coupe. If it handles well plus has balls, I'm willing to take a look. Another negative I read about the Camaro is that it's heavy as he'll. Thanks for the input, brother.
